Life in Tolland County

Tolland County is a part of Northeastern Connecticut with a population of more than 150,000 residents. There are 13 different towns that make up Tolland County, and Tolland County is included in the Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford CT Metropolitan Statistical Aarea. (According to Wikipedia)

Tolland County is adjacent to Hartford County, New London County, Windham County, Hampton County, and Worcester County. Tolland County spans a total of 417 square miles, including 6.8 square miles of water. Tolland County is the smallest county in terms of total area in Connecticut, and is the second smallest county in Connecticut when measuring only land area.

Tolland County was the place of origin for a ship-mate named Pip in Herman Melville’s famous novel Moby-Dick. It is also the home of the New England Civil War Museum. The county was first formed back in October of 1785, and it was formed by taking parts of eastern Hartford County and western Windham County.

The median income in this county is well above the national average, with a median household income of $921,631 as of the most recent census.
