Itās that time of year again! Weāre getting ready for our annual Special Olympics Connecticut softball event, and weād love to have you join us.
Weāll be volunteering together on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 8:15 AM ā 12:00 PM at the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Club in East Hartford.
If you joined us last year, you know what a great experience it was. If you didnāt make it last year, weāre asking you to make an effort to come out this time around. You donāt need any experience, and you donāt need to know anything about softball. Volunteer opportunities can be as simple as handing out water, helping with event support, or cheering on the athletes. The important part is being there.
The athletes have worked hard to get to this point, and having people there to support and encourage them makes a difference. But thereās something in it for us, too. From my own experience volunteering at these events, Iāve found that I always walk away with more energy than I came with. Thereās something about spending a morning supporting people who are working hard, competing, and enjoying what they do that stays with you.
So this year, make the effort to step outside of our normal routine and spend a few hours doing something meaningful with the NHA team. Show up for the athletes, give back to the community, and see what you take away from the experience yourself.
A volunteer T-shirt and lunch will be provided.
Register now using the QR code on the attached flyer.

What an incredible day! š³š
We had a wonderful time welcoming Jennifer āJenā Carlson to our NHA Summer Outing on June 7, 2026 as she prepares to compete in bowling at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis.
One of the highlights of the day was sharing the many cards and letters of encouragement that our clients and friends sent for Jen. Your thoughtful messages meant so much to her, and she was truly grateful for the kindness and support. Thank you to everyone who took the time to help cheer her on!
Spending the day bowling together, laughing, and celebrating Jenās journey reminded us that supporting our community is about so much more than sponsorshipsāitās about building relationships and encouraging one another along the way.
Now, Jen is headed to the national stage, representing Team Connecticut at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games from June 20ā26, 2026. We couldnāt be prouder of everything she has accomplished, and weāll be cheering her on every step of the way.

Over the past few years, weāve made a consistent effort to give back to the communities we serve. One way we do that is by supporting Special Olympics by sponsoring events, volunteering, and building real relationships with athletes and the organization. These arenāt one-time interactions; theyāre ongoing connections that have become part of who we are at NHA.
Big news: NHA is sponsoring Jen as she competes in bowling at the Special Olympics USA National Summer Games!
- Where: Minneapolis
- When: June 20-26
- About the Games: A national event bringing together thousands of athletes from across the country, centered on inclusion and community.
The Glastonbury Citizen published an article highlighting Jen and our sponsorship, which is below:

Our Partnership with Special Olympics Connecticut
For over four years, NHA has proudly partnered with Special Olympics Connecticut (SOCT) sponsoring events and showing up in person to support the incredible athletes who inspire us year after year. These events have become a meaningful extension of our firmās mission: to serve our community and foster a mindset of abundance, inclusion, and joy.
In 2024, members of our team had the privilege of volunteering at the SOCT Softball Tournamentāand what an unforgettable experience it was!
A special thank you to Attorney Nirenstein, Alysea, Evelyn, Aditi, and Jule for generously giving their time and energy. Attorney Nirenstein was the announcer, Jule and Aditi helped with scoring for the softball games, Evelyn used the radio to relay final scores, and Alysea was a great cheerleader for the athletes!
The athletesā energy was absolutely contagious. Their playful banter, unwavering determination, and love for the game created an uplifting atmosphere for everyone involved. Many of them played back-to-back games with incredible endurance and never lost their smiles.
The weather couldnāt have been better, blue skies and sunshine made for the perfect backdrop to a day full of competition, camaraderie, and community spirit.
We are honore to continue supporting SOCT and look forward to many more years of partnership. Watching these athletes compete, and being part of the behind-the-scenes magic, is something weāll always treasure.
As part of our ongoing commitment to the community and to families with loved ones with special needs, weāre proud to support organizations like Special Olympics. Planning for a loved one with special needs often involves setting up a special needs trusts to ensure they are cared for without jeopardizing government benefits.

Thanks again to everyone on the Community Service Committee who helped make this event possible. It was a fabulous experience, and we look forward to participating in future events as a team!
NHA hosted a Lunch & Learn with the Special Olympics, where we had the privilege of hearing from three incredible SOCT athletes who shared their personal journeys. Each spoke about their hard work, their dedication, and their love for competing in multiple sports. One story in particular stood outāa young woman described how, before SOCT, she felt isolated and frustrated, spending most days at home playing video games. After joining the SOCT network, she discovered purpose, confidence, and a supportive community that changed her life.
By volunteering, we get to be part of this life-changing mission. Our presence not only supports the athletesāit reminds us how meaningful it is to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
2025 Fall Sports Festival

At the Special Olympics Connecticut Fall Festival, Yannette Dominguez graciously accepted a plaque on behalf of NHA, commemorating our firmās significant role as a sponsor of the event. It was a proud moment for all of us, one that highlighted the impact our support has on the athletes and the broader community.
Even more inspiring was the turnout. This year marked our most successful participation yet, with 26 registrations under NHA! That strong showing of support is something to celebrate.
A special thank you goes out to our staff members who went above and beyond to volunteer their time and energy.
Here are a few photos from the softball tournament which NHA volunteered at. A big thank you goes out to our NHA staff and their families. Together, we celebrated inclusivity and sportsmanship!
The athletes were incredibly enthusiastic, bringing lively energy to the games with some fun, lighthearted banter that kept everyone engaged. They played multiple games back-to-back without showing any signs of slowing down, demonstrating an impressive level of endurance and passion for the sport.

It was inspiring to see the athletes in action and to be part of such a well-organized event that supports the Special Olympics community. It was a fabulous experience, and we look forward to participating in future events as a team!
We are proud of the impact NHA continues to make!

On October 22nd, 2025, our seminar conference room at NHA transformed into something special; it was a night that reminded us why giving back matters.
Thirty Special Olympics Connecticut athletes filled the room, with stacks of thank-you cards spread across the tables; the athletes set to work, each signature filled with appreciation to their sponsors. Jeff, John, Tara, Alysea, and Aditi volunteered their time, guiding the athletes as they signed their names.
The air smelled of pizza and cupcakes brought by SOCT, and John added a touch of autumn with a pumpkin cream cake. A special thanks to Evie and Marvin who worked behind the scenes, setting up and breaking down the room with the teamwork that keeps everything running smoothly. Even SOCT President Mike Mason attended, smiling as athletes playfully debated over whose sponsorās card they got to sign.
Each card was a promise of gratitude sent out, a symbol of kindness returning to those who make these programs possible. And for us at NHA, the experience came full circle: as both sponsors and hosts, we witnessed the impact of our support come to life before our eyes.
It was more than an event. It was a reminder that gratitude isnāt just felt, itās shared, written, and celebrated.
