Trusts and Estates Paralegal

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  1. Demonstrate a professional, collaborative approach when working with colleagues, clients, and external professionals.
  2. Maintain a client-first mindset and consistently deliver a high standard of client service.
  3. Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  4. Demonstrate proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  5. Resolve complex and nuanced client matters with accuracy, discretion, and timeliness.
  6. Coordinate with financial institutions and third-party service providers to obtain account information and supporting documentation.
  7. Review, interpret, and work confidently with bank statements, brokerage reports, and other financial documents.
  8. Draft Probate Court forms and estate tax returns.
  9. Exhibit a thoughtful and proactive work style, including the ability to listen, ask questions, analyze, and take appropriate action.
  10. Work independently while remaining accountable, self-motivated, and self-aware.
  11. Maintain strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  12. Adapt effectively to shifting priorities in a dynamic practice environment.
  13. Monitor and manage critical deadlines and key milestones across assigned matters to ensure nothing is overlooked.
  14. Possess a growth-oriented mindset with a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Education and Experience:

  1. Minimum of two years of experience in Trust & Estate administration.
  2. An associate’s degree, paralegal certificate, or relevant administrative experience is preferred but not required.
  3. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Work Arrangement:

  1. This position is on-site; COVID-19 vaccination is preferred.
  2. Eligibility for a hybrid workday after six months of employment.

Associate Attorney – Estate Planning / Trust Administration (Elder Law)

Location: Glastonbury, CT 06033
Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Attorney to join our growing law firm. The ideal candidate is a polished, energetic professional with 2–3 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, probate, and fiduciary tax planning, with Elder Law experience required.

You are confident, resilient, and receptive to constructive feedback. You understand that the practice of law is a service profession and consistently treat clients, colleagues, and all others with respect. You are proactive, responsive, well-organized, and take pride in delivering high-quality work.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on estate planning, trust administration, probate, and related fiduciary tax matters
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, trusts, wills, and related instruments
  • Administer trusts and estates, including fiduciary tax considerations
  • Represent clients in probate court hearings, negotiations, and related proceedings
  • Prepare for hearings and trials by organizing evidence and developing legal strategies
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, providing timely updates and practical legal guidance in plain English
  • Manage an independent caseload in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff on complex matters
  • Stay current on changes in relevant laws and regulations
  • Participate in client development, networking, and firm growth initiatives
  • Deliver presentations on estate planning topics as needed

What You Will Do

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Connecticut
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, and probate
  • Elder Law experience required
  • Fiduciary tax planning experience strongly preferred
  • Prior probate court hearing experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, and exceptional proofreading skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters while meeting deadlines
  • Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and networking skills

Administrative Assistant (Full-Time)

We are seeking, full-time Administrative Assistant who is a self-starter with excellent communication skills to join our team in this newly created role.

This role involves handling non-legal client calls and performing a variety of administrative and office support tasks. The successful candidate is eager to learn, highly organized, and interested in growing his/her skills and responsibilities over time. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!

Experience & Skills Requirements

  • High work ethic with a positive, professional attitude
  • Excellent verbal communication, grammar, and proofreading skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
  • Must have excellent time management skills
  • Self-directed, yet able to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Open-minded and approaches challenges seeing them as opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with non-legal inquiries in a professional and courteous manner
  • Print, organize, and prepare documents for client signing appointments
  • Scan and upload client documents into the firm’s database
  • Witness document executions and signings as required
  • Provide backup front-desk and administrative support during staff vacations
  • Assist with drafting and signing of Powers of Attorney (POA)
  • Prepare and send Family Care Plan (FCP) letters to clients
  • Assist and perform other any other assigned administrative and paralegal tasks as needed to support firm operations

This position is on-site only and is not eligible for hybrid or remote work.
