Madison, Connecticut
Nestled in the southeastern corner of New Haven County along Connecticut’s Long Island Sound shoreline is the town of Madison, Connecticut. The town covers almost 37 square miles and had a population of 18,269 residents as of the 2010 Census.
The area that would eventually become the town of Madison was first settled in the 1640s on land bought from the Nehantic and Mohegan Indians in 1641. For almost two centuries, Madison was known as East Guilford. Eventually, the town sought its own identity and incorporated in 1826 at which time the name was changed to Madison after James Madison, 4th President of the United States. Former President Bill Clinton refers to Madison as an “especially old and beautiful” favorite from his time at Yale.
Visitors and residents alike enjoy access to the town’s beaches during the warm summer months. The state’s longest public beach can be found in Hammonasset Beach State Park along with campsites, picnic areas, and a fishing pier. Surf Club Beach boasts recreational facilities for baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, and horseshoes. Sailboat and kayak racks can be found at Surf Club and East Wharf (commonly referred to as “purple sand beach”) beaches. If rock climbing or sunbathing is your thing, West Wharf Beach is for you. Finally, Madison Beach Club has its own beach and is located near Madison Country Club, a private golf course.
Nirenstein, Horowitz & Associates, P.C. in the Madison, Community
Given the importance of the finished product, care should be taken throughout every step of the estate planning process, starting with your choice of an estate planning attorney to work with you on your plan. Knowing how difficult it can be to discuss highly personal financial and family matters with a virtual stranger is one of the many reasons why the estate planning attorneys at Nirenstein, Horowitz & Associates, P.C. strive to create lasting relationships with each and every Madison, Connecticut client.
One of the many reasons that we strive to create lifelong relationships with our clients is that estate planning is a lifetime endeavor. The plan you create when you are a young adult will inevitably need to be reviewed and revised several times over the course of your lifetime to reflect the changes in your life. For example, your original Last Will and Testament will need to be updated when you marry and/or become a parent. As the parent of a minor child, you may elect to establish a trust to safeguard your child’s inheritance until such time as he/she is old enough to legally inherit from your estate. A trust may also be able to help you with probate avoidance, asset protection, and incapacity planning. As you age, you may decide to incorporate a Medicaid planning component into your estate plan as well as merge your retirement plans with your estate plan to ensure that they do not conflict with each other. Finally, you will likely want to execute an advance directive to ensure that your wishes are respected with regard to end of life care and you may even decide to create a funeral and burial component within your estate plan to make sure your wishes are honored after you are gone.
Our goal at Nirenstein, Horowitz & Associates, P.C. is to be with you throughout your life’s journey and help ensure that the people and things that are important to you are protected at all times.
